John A. Lovell
John A. Lovell was a well known preacher-publicist who pastored churches in California and Texas for over fifty years. In 1939 his contract with Texas radio station KTAT was cancelled after the station interrupted his program on the air in anticipation of where comments regarding 1940 Democratic Presidential Primary contender John Garner were headed. Rev. Lovell had often attacked Jews, blacks, Catholics or political figures on the air. KTAT defended it’s decision by stating that it would not tolerate political programs ‘with the false front of religion.’
